Travel insurance that says yes
when others say no

I'm Rob, 57. When I shopped for cover with a few things to declare, I found out which insurers take people like us seriously — and which quietly don't. HolidaySure shares what I learned, in plain English, so your search is easier than mine was.

Always declare your medical conditions when you get a quote — it protects you if you ever need to claim. The providers here are set up to consider medical conditions, not to exclude them.

Providers that specialise in cover for you

Every provider below covers pre-existing medical conditions rather than excluding them. Most are over-50s specialists; each card sets out what that provider actually offers, including any age limit.

Why standard travel insurance often isn't enough

If you're over 50 or managing a health condition, a standard policy bought in a hurry can leave you exposed in ways you won't discover until you need to claim.

🚫
Excluded by default
Many standard policies automatically exclude any pre-existing condition — often without making this obvious at the point of sale. Specialist providers treat your condition as something to cover, not avoid.
🎂
Age cut-offs
Some insurers stop offering cover at 65, 70, or 75. The specialists listed here go further — several have no upper age limit at all, and the rest cover well beyond the usual cut-offs. Each card says where that provider stands.
🏥
Medical costs abroad
A week in hospital in the US can cost over £100,000. Adequate medical cover — especially with a pre-existing condition — is the most important part of any travel policy. Don't skimp on this.
📋
Small print matters
Policies vary enormously in what they cover and how they define it. Specialist insurers write policies with your situation in mind — the small print is built around reality, not around exclusions.

Common conditions our providers cover

The providers on HolidaySure are experienced in covering a wide range of conditions. Here are some of the most common ones they deal with every day:

Heart conditions Diabetes (Type 1 & 2) Asthma Cancer (including recent treatment) COPD Atrial fibrillation High blood pressure Stroke (history of) Hip & knee replacements Arthritis Parkinson's disease Epilepsy Multiple sclerosis Crohn's disease

This is not an exhaustive list — AllClear alone covers over 1,300 conditions. Always declare everything when you get a quote. It takes a few minutes and it's the only thing that guarantees your cover is valid.

What to look for when you compare

A few things worth checking before you commit to a policy.

01
Declare everything — even if it feels minor
Your insurer doesn't know your medical history. If you don't declare a condition and it becomes relevant to a claim, the claim can be refused. Declare it and let them decide.
02
Check the medical emergency limit
Look for at least £5 million in emergency medical cover for Europe, and £10 million or more for the USA and worldwide cover. Anything less is cutting it fine.
03
Annual cover if you travel twice or more
If you're taking two or more holidays in a year, annual multi-trip cover is almost always cheaper than buying separate policies. Compare like for like before you decide.
04
Buy as soon as you book
Cancellation cover starts from the day you buy the policy — not the day you travel. If you wait until the week before, you could lose months of cancellation protection.
